Improving the Accuracy of Reporting Ki-67 IHC by Using an AI Tool

Heliyon, Volume 10, Issue 22, Article e40193 | 30 November 2024

This study introduces a traditional computer vision–based AI module designed to support pathologists in evaluating Ki-67 proliferative index (PI) on IHC-stained whole-slide images. Applied to sarcoma cases, the AI system significantly reduced inter-observer variability and improved concordance between pathologists, especially in regions of interest with complex morphology.
